Halloween Inspired….

You Had Me At Black

I'd intended for this to be a true, Halloween post...the original incarnation included all the requisite items such as skull earrings and a ghostly wine stopper. But just as I was about to publish, I asked myself, "Self....are we actually busting out the pumpkin shaped coasters once Halloween is over...or even on Halloween, for that matter?" I'll say this about that...unless you're talking about something edible (which I will be tomorrow), it's simply about black. Basic, beautiful black. So let's have a little fun with some pretty black items that yes, are Halloween-inspired but no...won't have to be packed up with the decorations on November 1st. Licorice + Going Incognito = Frighteningly Fabulous Nails | SHOP Rachel Roy had a great idea for her models' nail color in her show this past fashion week. She layered Essie's "Licorice" with a top coat of the deep green, "Going Incognito," for a rich, green-hued black. Can't wait to try it.
Striped Tapers | SHOP Why? Because we all use candles on Halloween and the orange/black combo make them just the right choice, but mostly, because a rugby stripe is cool any time of year and candles should always be stocked!
Kubus Small Black Bowl by Lassen | SHOP 1 | SHOP 2 This Kubus Bowl must've been purchased by a minimalist witch somewhere. I love it and think that if filled with the right stuff, it does say, "cauldron". Take these crocheted eyeballs, for example....cute, spooky in that hand-made kind of way?? The small is great for candy or nuts....the larger sized bowl is really fabulous too but is only available in gray. So pretend it's November 1st and buy that one too!
Raquel Allegra Shredded Cotton Blend Jersey Top | SHOP Raquel's signature shredding detail is kind of witchy, no? Oh, who cares...her stuff is fabulous and this particular choice is incredibly wearable and meant to be a winter basic. I'm feeling all cozy-cute just looking at it.
Rachel Comey - Yelle Slippers | SHOP 1 | SHOP 2 Allow me to back into this choice by saying that Halloween can be a long and tiring evening out. Alternately, if you're home handing out candy, you want to be stylishly comfortable. Either way, these Rachel Comey slippers are the perfect solution. I love the retro nod....couldn't find the perfect "house coat" (ripe for a comeback) but this Brushed Silk Sleep shirt is cute, just the same. If this post doesn't get these slippers off my mind, you may see them again on a holiday gift guide or better yet, on my feet!
