Clare Viver: Handbag Designer

Neighborhood favorites with sophisticated style

ELAINE SAYS: It's definitely safe to say I'm a fan of Clare Vivier and her modern, fuss-free style. I've been trying to manage my addiction but truthfully, I have a wish list. Clare's A-List is as simple-chic as her handbags and one I'm excited to share. Her lifestyle footprint extends beyond the Silverlake neighborhood where she lives and runs her flagship store, Clare Vivier. There, she's been known to stock, alongside her own signature bags, the works of talented locals like HEATHER TAYLOR who recently launched a line of charming table linens and HEATHER LEVINE, who makes delicate, abstract mobiles, birdhouses and wall hangings. As expected, Clare's A-List includes so many gems that are worth adding to your own lists as well. On that note, I have to say that I share her love for Canale....one of my absolute favorite restaurants and worth a visit! [Photo Courtesy JEANA SOHN]

  2. Cookbook Store cookbook laVISIT WEBSITE | LOCATION: 1549 Echo Park Avenue, Los Angeles [Echo Park]Yummy, daily menus & locally grown product make this a dream neighborhood market. 3. Bites to Believe In: Cafe Gratitude cafe gratitudeVISIT WEBSITE | LOCATION: Cafe Gratitude 639 North Larchmont Boulevard, Los Angeles [North Larchmont]New delicious vegan cafe in the hood. Ha!

  8. My Fitness Favorites: Micah McKinley + the Baxter Street Stairs fitnessMICAH KELLY WEBSITE | BAXTER STREET STAIRS I've tried to get into spinning and yoga - just not for me. I love to be outdoors, so it's hiking and running for me. So I was so happy to discover Micah, my trainer en plain air! He trains outside under the shade of trees in Silverlake park. An hour passes quickly but your muscles will tell you the next day the that you weren't simply lazing in the park.  And to change it up, I walk up the hidden stairs at Baxter Street.  It's my favorite walk in the city with some good tush exercising to boot! And you end up on a crest overlooking the lush Elysian park. Follow the paths for a loop - it's a good 40 minute workout in the verdant park.
  9. Taylor De Cordoba Gallery taylor decordobaVISIT WEBSITE | LOCATION: Taylor Decordoba Gallery 2660 South La Cienega Boulevard, Los Angeles [Culver City]When I do get to the other side of town, I go to Taylor De Cordoba gallery on La Cienega. They have events like their Eating Our Words lectures where an author reads and a local foodie artisan brings their goods to sell as well as being host to some of my favorite artists like Jeana Sohn and Kimberly Brooks who has an opening soon on September 10!
  10. Regal Cinemas Downtown regal cinemasVISIT WEBSITE | LOCATION: Regal Cinema at LA Live 800 West Olympic Boulevard, Los Angeles [Downtown]To avoid the crowds of the Arclight, this is my favorite place for movies with my son. It is a big, state of the art multiplex, easy to park and always good seats available.
