ELAINE SAYS: With Valentine's day on my mind, I recently stumbled into Jennifer McGarigle’s airy shop, Floral Art, on Abbot Kinney. I was in search not only of those pretty flowers but also, an in-person peak at her succulent troughs. I love the sculptural quality of succulents and I'd been admiring her designs for some time....the crisp and bright to the earthy and zen [btw, my next "boy" office or new home gift!]. Jennifer was there, designing away in her friendly Shop + Studio.. The space is filled not only with her first passion, flowers, but her more recent one as well, Home Design...her popular, Floret line of chairs and tables, brightly on display. This is a woman who genuinely loves blooms....she's truly inspired by them. And now...talk about burying the lead....we can all have a little taste of that passion with Jennifer's new, floral design classes. It’s the perfect blend of sweet/salty & of course, Mario Batali’s pizzas rock! Love this place for lunch or dinner, but late afternoons are best when it’s quieter.

It’s crazy, all you have to do is give her the names of your guests & she creates personalized messages for them. Each cookie has the person’s name on it, so they make great place cards & are unforgettable. Not to mention, great conversation starters.
