Priscilla Ahn: Songwriter + Musician + Recording Artist
Sweet Ideas from a Singer|Songwriter Who's Sound Defines The Word
ELAINE SAYS: I was introduced to Priscilla by my good friend & Filter Magazine Co-Founder|Publisher, Alan Sartirana, and was struck by the purity of her voice [she sounds just as pitch-perfect playing in her living room as she does in a studio recording] and the innocence of her lyrics [she has these simple, succinct articulations that I find charming]. Her music is so, well, sweet... lovely....and in listening to her, I actually found myself becoming nostalgic for my own, dreamy, "coming of age" days. I could actually feeeel them. The small moments, the delicate memories, the melancholy. But, as chronicled in her second album, When You Grow Up, the 27-year-old Singer|Songwriter, like all of us, has grown up....recently, getting married herself, to actor, Michael Weston. Which brings us back to sweethearts....Priscilla is currently celebrating the release of her new EP, a collaboration with Charlie Wadhams they call, Sweethearts, ...and downloads, thanks to their truly romantic natures, are free! So, enjoy this list of special things that Priscilla loves and click on the link above, to share Sweethearts with your sweetheart today...what a perfect Valentine! xx -e

- Photographer, Cedric Bihr [online find] VISIT WEBSITE + VISIT BLOGCedric is an amazing photographer who I fell in love with upon discovering him on one of my favorite blogs: GARANCE DORE. I thought he lived in France, so it would be impossible for him to do a photo shoot for my new album. But it turned out, he moved in right around the corner from me in my neighborhood! He just recently created a blog of his own, which features a few new accomplishments, one of them being the new and brilliant Band Of Outsiders campaign, featuring himself and his beautiful wife, Ai.
- Scoops [local fave] LOCATION: Scoops 712 North Heliotrope Drive, Los Angeles [Sivlerlake]This is a tiny ice cream/frozen yogurt shop where they make all their own flavors ranging from Guiness Chocolate to Brown Bread, and it always tastes exactly how it sounds in a super scrumptious way. If you have a new flavor recommendation, they will make it. They also hang interesting artwork (done by local artists of all ages) on their walls.
- Tonic Oil From Tao Of Wellness [online find] VISIT WEBSITEBecause I fly a lot, I tend to get neck and shoulder cramps a lot. Since I can't always get a massage on the road, I found that using this tonic oil is almost just as good! It's made by the people at Tao Of Wellness, which is a wonderful acupuncture facility. The oil is all-natural, and when applied, immediately relaxes my muscles. It's also nice on the chest if you're congested!
- Fiesta Taco [local fave] LOCATION: 1110 North Hollywood Way, Burbank This is my favorite place to get Mexican food! It's a small, 2-man operation in the middle of Burbank. I recorded my first record in a hidden studio just next door, connected to the Auto Shop. I literally ate here every day. The #58 (veggie burrito) with gaucamole never fails, and their home-made Jamaica tea is the cherry on top!
- The Impossible Project [online find] VISIT WEBSITEI bought an old Polaroid sx-70 camera off of ebay a few years ago, and it's one of my favorite investments because I get so excited every time I use it! I was a little worried about how I was going to keep buying film, since it's going the way of the Dodo, until I discovered The Impossible Project. They took over the old Polaroid factory in the Netherlands, and have been creating their own new Polaroid film. It's so fun to work with, and the images come out so different each time. Real polaroids are very special.
- Jitlada Thai [local fave] VISIT WEBSITE| LOCATION: Jitlada 5233 West Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles [Hollywood]This is my new favorite Thai spot. After having honeymooned in Thailand and getting a taste for what real Thai food is supposed to be like, this is the first place I've come across that actually stands up to the food we ate in Thailand. I love spicy things, and this place is definitely not shy with their peppers! My favorite must-have dish every time I go there: Green Mussels in broth.
- Rustic Canyon [local fave] VISIT WEBSITE | LOCATION: Rustic Canyon 1119 Wilshire Boulevard, Santa Monica [Santa Monica]My favorite thing about this place is their seasonal menu that changes daily based on what's freshest and available. All their food is locally grown. My other favorite things about this place: their refreshing cocktails and yummy desserts!
- The Getty Center [local fave] VISIT WEBSITE | LOCATION: The Getty Center 1200 Getty Center Drive, Los Angeles [Brentwood]This is one of my favorite places to go to in L.A. when I have a day with nothing to do. The grounds and architecture are so beautiful and peaceful. They have so many exhibits to see. Sometimes I like to go just to have a picnic on the grass near their gardens.
- Pulp Cards and Paper [local fave] LOCATION: Pulp Cards and Paper 456 South LaBrea Avenue, Los Angeles [Mid City]This is my new go-to place to buy fun and sometimes funky gifts for friends. They have everything from candles and cards, to hand-made jewelry and spray paint cocktail shakers.
- Charlie Wadhams [online find] VISIT WEBSITECharlie's one of my favorite singer-songwriters, and he was born and bred right here in L.A.! We wrote a song called "I Don't Have Time To Be In Love" together for my latest album. We decided to keep writing, so now we're working on an album of duets. We just released an EP for Valentine's Day called, "Dear Sweetheart" !
