My A-list
Angie Hranowsky: Interior Designer + Founder, Angie Hranowsky Design Studio
New Year, New Nest!
ELAINE SAYS: It's amazing how the moment that Hannukah and X-mas are over, nesting is all I think about. So, it seemed the natural time for a "New Year, New Nest resource guide. I discovered the talented, Angie Hranowsky, while shopping online at one of my regular boutique + blog stops, ZHUSH. In her blog, Founder Sue De Chiara regularly posts her favorite, "Pops of Purple," this time featuring one of Angie's homes. Now, I'm pretty picky about the way color is folded into a design concept and while I have nothing against purple, perse, I guess I never personally thought it was for me as an interior color. But yes....this story ends as you'd suspect. I stand corrected, currently even considering a purple rug for my living room. Angie's approach was sophisticated....not overly purple....and it propelled me to her SITE where I lingered. What I found? Happy rooms that make you feel good. Angie has a way of blending traditional and modern, "boy" and "girl", neutral and color, that just works. And a slew of email exchanges later, she was writing a list of her favorite online design resources for all of us. I've loved getting know Angie and can't believe she hasn't yet done an LA interior. Someone's going to get that first one....Oh, I'm already envious! :)

- Jayson Home VISIT WEBSITE This website is a reliable resource. It's a store front in Chicago, but they have a great online shop. They carry mostly new furniture and lighting, but they also have a section called Flea where you can find beautiful antique and vintage pieces.
- Sally Benedict VISIT WEBSITE I love this artist. She has become a dear friend and I have been using and commissioning her work since the day I met her. I love her use of color and her abstract style. My favorite painters are Rothko, de Kooning, Motherwell, Franz Kline, the list goes on and when I look at Sally's work it brings out those same emotions. She also does beautiful black & white inks on paper and most recently a very vibrant collection of acrylic and gauche on paper.
- Madeline Weinrib VISIT WEBSITEIMadeline Weinrib Rugs= Amazing. I use the cotton flatweaves a lot. The colors and patterns are beautiful and the price points are fantastic. She also has an incredible collection of Tibetan and Tulu rugs.
- Alice + Olivia VISIT WEBSITE I really like Stacey Bendet's clothes, but her branding and website are fantastic. I especially love her 4am finds. I signed up and get mine sent to me every week. She always has a fun collection of her favorite finds and I can always count on some super cool furniture that would work right into one of my spaces.
- Ikea VISIT WEBSITELove ikea! I wish we had one in Charleston, but fortunately, they have a very extensive website and I stock up everytime I'm in Atlanta. I always say, "you don't want to do you entire house in Ikea," but they have some pretty cool stuff at some pretty cheap prices and I work in something from Ikea on almost every job.
- 1st Dibs VISIT WEBSITEOne of my favorite websites. They have an amazaing collection of the very best vintage furniture, art, lamps and accessories. I also love there Introspective online magazine. They feature designers, dealers and artists every week. I love getting to see into the lives and work of these wonderfully creative people.
- Urban Electric VISIT WEBSITEThis is a wonderful online source for the best hand-crafted lighting out there. Every light fixture is made locally and bench-crafted. They started and are still located right here in Charleston, but their business spans the globe. You can customize any of their lighting to fit your specs as well as have them custom make anything you want to create.
- Woven Accents VISIT WEBSITEThis is a great rescource for new and antique rugs. I don't really use oriental carpets unless they already belong to a client, but I love their collection of kilim, moroccan and contemporary rugs. And their showroom is located in L.A. so a bonus for you local readers.
- Molly B. Right VISIT WEBSITEMolly is a local artist in Charleston, but this woman needs to have a show in L.A. and NYC. Her bottlecap portraits are breathtaking. They average 4' x 5' in scale. Her abilitly to translate and transform someone or something out of bottlecaps is truely amazing. Her work has appearded in more than one of my houses. And she is super cool to boot.
- Circa Lightling VISIT WEBSITEA great, go-to source for beautiful lighting. I use their sconces and ceiling lights often, in my projects. When I want a beautiful, classic light fixture they are one of the first the places that I go to. I love that they have a showroom here in Charleston, but honestly, I choose most of their lighting from their website.
