- New High Mart VIEW WEBSITE | LOCATION: 1720 North Vermont Avenue, Los Angeles [Los Feliz] I love New High Mart on Vermont for hard to find brands like Rachel Comey and Grey Ant. They have a really beautifully culled selection of sort of utilitarian/European/minimalist stuff with an artisan edge that feels relevant. Great online selection too.
- Native LOCATION 5915 Franklin Avenue, Los Angeles [Franklin Village] There’s this really random little boutique in my neighborhood (on the Franklin Avenue ‘strip’ next door to Upright Citizens Brigade) called Native. It’s kind of an odd mix of mid-level no name designers and cheap downtown stuff, with some accessories thrown in. They’ve been known to stock Han Cholo jewelry, and had a great selection of buttery-soft, suede, tie belts the last time I stopped in. What I dig about it is that you can find some really interesting pieces that won’t break the bank; they have an amazing $20 sale rack out front daily that sucks me in every time. The sales girls are super sweet and helpful too! (Read: They think my obnoxious kids are cute.)
- Bleu VIEW WEBSITE | LOCATION: 454 South La Brea Avenue, Los Angeles [LaBrea] I still love Bleu on La Brea for brands like Haute Hippie, Mara Hoffman, 3.1 Phillip Lim and Robert Rodriguez, as well as Steven Alan Outpost on Hillhurst for Geren Ford Dresses and Clare Vivier bags at a discount.
- Squaresville LOCATION: 1800 North Vermont Avenue, Los Angeles [Los Feliz] Since vintage is my first love I will always have a soft spot (obsession) with combing my super secret thrift store faves! Secrets aside I know many people don’t like to dig and I’ve had amazing luck at Squaresville on Vermont – great for cowboy boots, seventies footwear and cute 1950’d print dresses in scads. They also have a decent selection of current resale items.
- Decades VIEW WEBSITE | LOCATION: 8414 Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles If you want to go high-end...nothing, and I mean nothing, beats Decades for vintage couture and Decades II for designer consignment; both are on Melrose. Check out Wasteland while you’re there.
- Rice and Beans VIEW WEBSITE There’s also an amazing, well priced, designer (and not) vintage site online that I adore called, "Rice and Beans Vintage," and they know their stuff.... from Pucci to Halston to Chanel. I really think it’s online shopping’s best kept vintage secret
- Loehmann's VIEW WEBSITE | LOCATION: Beverly Connection 333 South La Cienega Boulevard [Mid-City] Honestly? I love Loehmann’s on La Cienega. Again, you have to be willing to pick but I’ve scored most of my fave accessories here; a pair of tomato-red Marc Jacobs ankle boots, a big terrycloth Emilio Pucci beach bag and great costume jewelry to name just a few. I also like American Rag on La Brea although their show selection is small, they get some really unique brands and have great sales.
- Style.com VIEW WEBSITE Style.com....Hands down, it is the holy grail of, well…everything. You can watch up-to-the-minute runway shows, search older collections, get trend reports and they have the most detailed and incredible images of the clothing.
- Models Off Duty VIEW WEBSITE I’m also kid of obsessed with this site called Models Off Duty, which shows beautiful photographs of just that. The outfits they choose while they’re walking the streets instead of the runways are even more inspiring, in my opinion.
- Kristina Lenss VIEW WEBSITE I love Local Designer, Kristina Lenss of Kristinit. Her clothing is eco-friendly being that it’s made from beautiful recycled fabrics from around the globe. It’s a throwback to a sort of Old-Hollywood Glamour meets tailored Parisian. Kristina is passionate about what she does and that comes through in her designs. She also has an incredible linen jumpsuit with a ruffled collar that made me fall in love with her work – beyond feminine. She can also be found at one my other favorite boutiques Petro Zillia on 3rd street.
