Father’s Day Gift Picks
The Mother of All Father's Day Gift Lists
I cannot believe Father's Day is here already. It's just not possible. Accept that it is here...and it is possible. I have to confess that while this day really deserves some attention, if not for this post I fear i would have just crashed into Sunday, scrambling both for a gift and to collect my thoughts. So, hopefully, this will remind you to slow down as well. I was lucky enough to grow up with a warm and wonderful dad who's still there for me whenever I need him [proof being the trip to the gas station he recently made when I realized I was on fumes and driving without a wallet. Yes, I'm a grown woman]. And I'm certain that his influence helped guide me toward my truly amazing husband, as well. He does so much all year long. As we speak, he's running around with our 2 kids, my 2 nephews and my son's friend, so I can have a couple hours to write this post about Father's Day! Oh, the irony. So, I'll say this about that....When I think of the kind of role model he is, the substance in what he's teaching our kids, how much support he gives me and respect he shows me, how much he truly, truly cares...well, let's just say he'd be entitled to pick at least two gifts from the list. So, for all of you mothers and daughters out there who appreciate your husbands and daddy's as I do, here are a few ideas to brainstorm...and of course, don't forget that a hand-made gift or photo book is likely the best of all and their addition would push any of these right over top. I hope you have a beautiful family day and that the men in your lives feel appreciated.

- Fray Surf Trunks, Steven Alan $148 SHOP You must click on this thumbnail to fall in love with the subtle, frayed edges and interior color as much as I have. These trunks are relaxed and still refined....your guy will look great on the beach.
- Crumpled Straw Hat, Steven Alan $158 + Straw, Plaid Trilby Hat, JCrew, $40 SHOP STEVEN ALAN | SHOP JCREWMost men won't buy themselves a hat but chances are they need a new one. Here are a couple of suggestions that will work with almost anything, all sumer long...and they'll make any lazy summer ensemble look deliberate. Pair them with the surf trunks for an even bigger impact.
- Moderne Chess Set, OK $185 SHOP This is wonderful Father's Day gift idea [and the one I chose for my own husband...shhh...] because it's not only a beautiful piece of table art, but also a game that dad [or grandpa] can teach the little one's.
- Rincon Surf Bag, Heather Heron $125 SHOP Heather Heron's unique surf bags are made of vintage military canvas. This baby will dress up his board in just the right way and the price point is amazing. Plus, I can tell you for sure that Heather puts her heart and soul into all her products.
- Lotuff and Clegg Brown Leather iPad Case, Lost and Found $168 SHOPThe Lost and Found Shops are go-to's for me and must-visits for anyone shopping LA. The products in each of the shops that line Yucca Street in Hollywood are some of the most thoughtfully curated around. Their leathers often have this sturdy and rough hewn appeal, which I love for men [and for myself as well] and this iPad case is a great example. An accessory that will make him look really put together and that will patina beautifully with age.
- Wine Stopper, Leif $8 + Bottle of Wine SHOP WINE STOPPER | SHOP WINE On the way home from a recent family getaway to ALISAL RANCH, we stopped at the family friendly, ultra cool, totally laid back and completely legit tasting room of Saarloos & Son's. We loved the experience and bought several bottles which we've enjoyed drinking and gifting. None of them disappointed. This gift box of "his and hers" wines illustrates the essence of the family run business Keith Saarloos and the rest of the mishbucha are doing up in Los Olivos. Another idea....simply go to a boutique wine shop, ask questions, consider something new and put some time into choosing just the right bottle. Dress it up with a wine stopper like this one and you've turned a ubiquitous gift into a unique and personal one. Dad will love hearing the story about what you've chosen and why, plus it will make drinking it more fun to do together.
