An Interior Designer's LA Blueprint

I tracked down Krista Shrock after discovering her incredible digital design magazine, COLLECTED. I love these mags and was so excited to stumble on such a gorgeous, new one...and the fact that the editorial focus of the issue was Los Angeles, only made it that much better and more relevant to me. The Good News...you can check it out online. The Bad News...Krista and Co-Founder, Jessica Comingore have written their last issue. UGH!!! 1. Invanhoe Books for Inspiration VISIT WEBSITE| LOCATION: Ivanhoe Books 1618 Silverlake Boulevard, Silverlake [Silverlake]Located inside Lawson Fenning’s Silverlake Outpost, this tiny bookstore contains an amazing range of books from fashion, design and food as well as many are, vintage books.
2. Lake Boutique for Beautiful Curation VISIT WEBSITE | LOCATION:Lake Boutique 1618 1/2 Silverlake Boulevard, [Silverlake] A beautiful collection of designers labels like Isabel Marant, Twelfth Street and hard to find small labels and home accessories.
3. LA Mill to Refuel VISIT WEBSITE | LOCATION: LA Mill 1635 Silverlake Boulevard [Silverlake]The best coffee in Los Angeles, also don’t miss the eggs & smoked salmon scramble, 100% heavenly. An amazing place to see hipsters and Hollywood converge.
4. Ok for Gifts to be Remembered VISIT WEBSITE| LOCATION: Ok 1716 Silverlake Boulevard [Silverlake]OK’s newest location in Silverlake is my first & only stop to shop for gifts. My top picks: Comme De Garcons wallets, Dosa leather goods & Heath Ceramics.

1. Galerie Half for Artistic Discovery VISIT WEBSITE | LOCATION: Galerie Half 6911 Melrose Avenue [Melrose]If you are feeling the need to be inspired, check out this vintage furniture galerie owned by Cameron Smith & Cliff Fong. An amazing selection of furniture by designers such as Borge Mogensen, Poul Kjaerholm and Frits Henningsen as well as French industrial lighting.
2. Lost and Found for Unique Finds VISIT WEBSITE | LOCATION: Lost and Found 6320 Yucca Street [Hollywood]Six mini stores spanning a block of Yucca Street makes up Lost & Found. Il Bisonte leather goods are my pick here as well as the African Brass Bead necklaces that sell for $15 buckeach!
3. Ammo for Food with Friends VISIT WEBSITE| LOCATION: Ammo 1155 North Highland Avenue [Hollywood]One of my very favorite places to meet & eat in all of Los Angeles. This unassuming spot on Highland Blvd was designed by Commune Design and serves local, organic fare. My Food Pick: Alexander’s Brown Rice with Chicken or Tofu. So Good....

1. Carly Marino for Feeling Fit VISIT WEBSITE After you have eaten your way through Los Angeles, work off those stubborn pounds with Carly Marino of Marino Wellness. Carly is everything you want in a trainer: attractive, motivating and super fun.
2. Raya Day Spa for Taking Care VISIT WEBSITE| LOCATION: Raya Day Spa 533 North La Cienega Boulevard, Los Angeles [Mid City]I stumbled across Raya Day Spa by accident and have been hooked ever since. This has got to be the best facial in the city, in the most start of the art facility for under $70. Enough said.
3. Pressed Juicery to Cleanse VISIT WEBSITE| LOCATION: Brentwood Country Mart at 26th and San Vicente, Los Angeles [Brentwood]This 3 or 5 day fresh juice fast is delivered to your door and is customized by you. Cleaning your body so your mind and spirit are ready to kick some butt.

Modern Architecture with Timeless Appeal VISIT THE GAMBLE HOUSE | VISIT THE CHEMOSPHERE HOUSE | VISIT THE EAMES CASE STUDY HOUSEIf you are very lucky to call Los Angeles home you can find some of the most historically significant architectural homes in the world. The Gamble House in Pasadena, the Chemosphere House in the Hollywood Hills and the Eames Case Study House in the Pacific Palisades, are my top 3 favorite, that I visit and revisit often.
