Little Things For Little People

A Few Great Products To Make Life With The Monkeys Just A Little Easier

Consider this the first installment in a continuing quest for simple but great products for kids and parents. Finding them are always little victories and I love to share. Hope you'll do the same by sending in your finds....we'll create a List Lab post with them! [photo courtesy, tepimade]

  1. Nature's Baby Organics, PU All Purpose Deodorizer natures babyVISIT WEBSITE For when little people make big odors….(do you like how i'm throwing the shorty's under the bus?) Okay, Okay....It's good for the whole family.  This organic deodorizer is really great at neutralizing odors in a nice-smelling, non-chemically way.  I received it once in a swag bag and have been buying it ever since.  Plus, the company is local, based in Woodland Hills.
  2. The Wet Brush or The Tangle Teezer tangle teezer 2wet brushVISIT WEBSITE | LOCATION: Larchmont Beauty Center  208 North Larchmont Boulevard, Los Angeles [Larchmont] Attention mom's!  These brushes are life savers for tangly mornings, after bath or when you're little fish gets out of the pool.  Especially impressive on dry hair, which normally has more "ouch," this product has brought our morning volume down considerably.  The Wet Brush has a handle and the Tangle Teezer fits in the palm of your hand.  I'm not sure how they would be for super thick hair but see what works best for your child. Try Amazon on the Web and The Larchmont Beauty Supply if you're buying locally.
  3. Would You Rather? and Mad Libs Jr. would you rathermad libs2VISIT WEBSITE | LOCATION:Barnes and Noble, The Grove Both of these are unexpected and genius study devices for emerging readers. Warning: They may not be for every parent (or child) but for mine, they get BIG, belly laughs.  My son loves reading the silly questions that are just like the grown-up version but aged down and grossed up for kids.  They ask things like, "Would you rather drink a cup of body sweat or eat a plate full of belly button lint?"  Disgusting?  Yes.  Appropriate for your child? Up to you.  But do they even realize they're practicing their reading?  Not a chance!  I'm not saying it's a substitute for Huck Finn but it's a start?
  4. Zing Aqua Glider, Underwater Boom-A-Rang aqua glider VISIT WEBSITE I bought 2 of these for my kids to play with in the pool this summer and they've been racing away for weeks!  The fins have 3 positions that allow them to speed forward or boom-a-rang back. I bought mine at Landis Labrynth on Larchmont, but I'd call to make sure they're restocked.  If not, Amazon.com, 18.99
  5. My Book About Me, Dr. Seuss and How To Be An Explorer Of The World, Keri Smith my book about mehow to be an explorer of the world VISIT WEBSITE | LOCATION: Barnes and Noble, The Grove It's always nice to give your kids learning projects that are also fun for them.  These two books do that so well, for a couple different ages.  For the little ones, Dr Seuss's All About Me book is a hard cover, fill-in-the-blank, starter journal that tracks your childs vitals, stats and  favorite things, recording precious memories in their own, scribbly handwriting.  "Explorer," is an amazingly creative book of "projects" and tasks that will keep your kid outdoors, exploring the world and looking at their findings in a uniquely artistic and organic way.
