Remember when you used to sit around with friends and listen to music all day? Staying current was simple, obvious, innate. Now, keeping playlists fresh can be totally overwhelming. But we must persevere...we promised ourselves years ago that we would, right? So, here are a handful of hopefulls that have cut through the clutter for me. The heavy synthesizers call back to the days of John Hughes, but in a totally modern and fresh way. DOWNLOAD This record is not BRAND new but it's new to me. Apparently, Jamie Lyn Seigler's character told Turtle to pick up their record in an episode of, "Entourage," but I didn't get the hint. Finally, I jumped on board when I heard they played Coachella this past April. Yes, I was a little late to the party but I'm so glad I decided to come. DOWNLOAD My husband, the true music expert in the family, turned me on to this band when the record was released in January, and I've been driving around listening to their single, Chinatown ever since. DOWNLOAD KCRW (website and radio shows) is one of my favorite music resources ever. The new site is FULL of amazing discoveries and worth exploring. James Vincent McMorrow was one of my recent finds….His mysterious and haunting sound is perfect for those occasional, moody, Sunday mornings.. James recorded, "Early In The Morning, "over 5 months in an isolated house by the sea. Didn't surprise me.
