Have a Sweet Weekend With Some Of These Lister Faves

ELAINE SAYS: We all need a sugar fix every once in a while. So, if you're trying to nurse a craving this weekend, here are a view choices that have been Lived, Loved and Listed for you. Good service, huh? Oh... and add to the list, my personal favorite, the Chocolate Cake at the Palm. Good, old fashioned, dense, deliciousness. Definitely the "comfort dessert" I most crave. Enjoy! 1. Actress, Shiri Appleby's Favorite Carrot Cake shiri_applebyVISIT WEBSITE | LOCATION: Joans On Third 8350 West 3rd Street, Los Angeles [3rd Street] Joan’s on Third is a staple of this city and rightfully so. My favorite desert in the world is carrot cake and Joan makes the best one I’ve tasted in town. Three layers of cream cheese and the cake is so moist and dense. I had it as my b-day cake for my 30th, if that’s any indication about how good it is. READ SHIRI'S LIST
  2. Bar Covell's, Dustin Lancaster's PB&J Cupcake of Choice dustin_lancasterVISIT WEBSITE | LOCATION: Sweets For The Soul 3169 Glendale Boulevard, Los Angeles [Atwater Village]Try the Peanut Butter and Jelly Cupcake from SWEETS for the SOUL. I actually serve one of their caramel brownies at my bar, if that tells you how much I like their baked goods.  I think I have tried every single item in the display case, and trust me... you can't go wrong with anything.  All items are made organically and in small batches.  Super- fresh and not too rich.   If you are fortunate enough to find yourself in the store and there happens to be a peanut butter and jelly cupcake left... buy it immediately!  It will take you back to elementary school in the best possible way. 3. Interior Designer, Nina Petronzio's Sugar Free Stand Out Nina_PetronzioVISIT WEBSITE | LOCATION: Babycakes NYC 130 West 6th Street, Los Angeles [Downtown] When I’m craving something sweet but not the sugar high and crash that comes with it, Babycakes NYC categorically fits the bill.  I’m obsessed with their sugar free, dairy free, gluten free delicacies (sweetened with Agave).  A great excuse to head Downtown, I pick up a batch on the way to dinner at Rivera or after a Sunday brunch at Bottega Louis.  My all-time favorite there is the chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting. 5. Writer/Director, Deborah Kaplan Makes It Mastro's for Butter Cake deborah-kaplanfinalVISIT WEBSITE | LOCATION: Mastro's 246 North Canon Drive, Beverly Hills [BH] My favorite indulgence in town is hands down, the butter cake at Mastro's.  They serve it to you right out of the oven....it's a communal dessert, so you wind up eating it way too fast, just so no one else can have more than you.
